Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the 17th provincial cabinet meeting, which included several significant decisions, such as updates to the Green Tractor Scheme and the introduction of Punjab’s largest group wedding program.

The meeting announced the review of 700,000 out of the 2 million submitted applications for the Green Tractor Scheme. This initiative, which will provide affordable tractors for farmers, has received a favorable response. The government promises to select deserving farmers to enhance agriculture throughout the province.

1 Lakh Acre Land Allotment for Landless Farmers

The decision to lease 1 lakh hectares of land to landless farmers has also received approval. We will make land available for temporary farming on lease terms of three to five years to provide much-needed assistance to landless farmers.

Cabinet Approves Historic Program Of Collective Weddings

The cabinet approved a historic group marriage initiative to support 3,000 girls from low-income families. Each bride will receive Rs 100,000 through an ATM card and up to 13 gifts, including household items like dining sets, clothes, and furniture.

E-Buses and Electric Taxi Service in Punjab: 1st Phase to Introduce in First Phase

The province approved an electric bus service as part of a green initiative. The first phase will introduce 27 electric buses, with an expected increase to 680 by the year’s end. The solar panels will power the charging stations of these buses. The chief minister also called for the development of an electric taxi service plan for Lahore.

Punjab E-Stamping and Healthcare Revamp

The Board of Revenue and Punjab Bank signed an agreement to introduce an e-stamp system for property tax collection. Meanwhile, the government approved a budget of Rs 1,700 crore for upgrading equipment and furniture in tertiary hospitals.

Livestock Meeting Decisions

The meeting also approved appointments to the board of the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board and extended contracts with family welfare centers until 2024.

This cabinet meeting focused on improving various sectors of the province, from agriculture to public welfare and transport, and several decisions are expected to be implemented soon.
