In a meeting on Tuesday, November 19, CM Punjab approved the first Chief Minister’s Dialysis Card Scheme. Maryam Nawaz headed this meeting. The objective of this project is to give speedy treatment to dialysis patients.
During the meeting, we also discussed the updates on free medications and the setting up of various hemodialysis units across Punjab. Maryam Nawaz showed her point of view over the increasing number of AIDS cases in Multan and gave an update on the improvement of Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital.
Punjab Govt Increased Funds for Each Dialysis Patient Up to Rs 1 Million
Under the project, Punjab will give each dialysis patient up to Rs 1 million for necessary treatments, medicines, and tests. Of this, Rs 8.5 lakh will go towards dialysis procedures, while Rs 1.5 lakh will cover medicines and diagnostic tests for patients with kidney diseases.
Building More Dialysis Units in the Province
To facilitate access to healthcare, more kidney dialysis units will be set up across Punjab. This step is part of a larger plan to improve healthcare infrastructure and make sure that patients can get quality care near their homes. The Punjab Healthcare Commission Department has been instructed with monitoring the centers and ensuring that proper SOPs are followed.
Free Dialysis Medicines and Services Outside Punjab
Maryam Nawaz stated that free dialysis services and medicines are not limited to Punjab. Patients from other provinces, including Sindh and Balochistan, are also taking advantage of this initiative.
Continue Dialysis Treatments Without Delay
The CM stated that dialysis treatments must continue without delay as the health and wellbeing of patients remain the top priority. Disruptions due to lack of funding will not be tolerated.
CM Dialysis Card Application
Patients with kidney disease can apply for a dialysis card from their district hospital or Tehsil in their area. Anyone with the required documents and proof of diagnosis can apply.
Updates from Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital
KPIs have been defined to scrutinize ongoing healthcare projects. Updates were provided on PIC-II and Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Hospital in Sargodha, with decisions to convert PIC-II into a state-of-the-art facility with modern technologies.
Spain’s Investment in Punjab’s Trade and Tourism Sector
Maryam Nawaz also met with a Spanish delegation to discuss partnerships in the areas of trade, tourism, and environmental policy. She appreciated Spain’s support and expressed interest in joint efforts such as flood damage warning systems.
Farmer Cards Allotments by Agriculture and Livestock Minister
Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani gave an update on the Punjab’s Kisan Card scheme and reported that nearly 495,000 applications have been approved. Farmers have already purchased produce worth Rs 21 billion using these cards. In addition, letters have been sent to farmers taking part in the Green Tractor scheme, whose payments are due by December 5.
