From November 5, 2024, the registration of eligible farmers for the Punjab Livestock Card officially opened across the province. This initiative will assist farmers by giving them interest-free loans to help them manage livestock, improve animal nutrition, and increase meat production. Farmers with 5–10 cows can now apply for these zero-profit loans from the Bank of Punjab (BOP). Like other initiatives, the Himmat Card and Kisan Card, the livestock card also has its own eligibility requirements.

Maryam Nawaz Launched the Livestock Card Scheme

In Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the launch of the Livestock Card, which will provide farmers with access to interest-free loans. “Our objective is to pave the way for economic independence for farmers in Punjab,” She said.

The scheme targets the farming community in southern Punjab and disburses loans for essential commodities such as animal feed like wanda, hay and mineral supplements. All dairy farmers with up to 10 animals can apply for this facility. Applications are currently underway in Attock and other parts of Punjab.

Eligibility Requirements for the CM Punjab Livestock Card

These are the requirements to get your farmstock card:

  • Applicants must be livestock breeders residing in Punjab.
  • Both men and women can apply.
  • A valid identity card and a mobile SIM card registered in the applicant’s name are required.
  • Farmers must own at least five cows or bulls and be below 60 years of age.
  • A clear credit history is mandatory.
  • The loan tenure is five months with the repayment period set to the last 30 days.
  • Registration is required in the Department of Livestock’s database 9211.

Monthly Loan Through Livestock Programme

To update farmers, the scheme has started an awareness campaign in Jehlum district. The campaign includes sessions at livestock centres, schools, mobile veterinary hospitals and Kisan dispensaries. From December 15, farmers can buy using their livestock cards.

Under this scheme, monthly loans ranging from Rs 135,000 to Rs 270,000 will be provided for animal feed. Certified feed sellers will offer livestock products such as silage and salt mixes in partnership with Bank of Punjab.

Registration Methods for the First Ever DairyStock Card

If you are a farmers and wish to apply for this scheme from home the you can go through these four steps:

  1. Visit the web portal at pitb.gov.pk or the Dairy Development Board website.
  2. Fill out the application form carefully and submit it.
  3. Wait for confirmation if you are eligible.
  4. Requests can also be sent via SMS by typing “PCL [space] CNIC number” and sending it to 8070. Registration will then be confirmed.

You can also register by visiting your regional veterinary dispensary hospital, bringing your animals and filling a registration form. Once they approve your registration, the livestock card will be issued at the nearest BOP branch.

Punjab Allocated Budget and Loan Details for Livestock Card Scheme

CM Maryam Nawaz‘s decision for the livestock card has a sizable budget, allocating Rs 11 billion to help 80,000 dairy farmers prepare 400,000 animals for the market. It will give each farmer Rs 27,000 per animal, up to Rs 270,000 for 10 cows, which will cover all the essential things like feeds and mineral mixture.
