The Punjab Govt has made a new announcement that will affect people throughout the province. Soon, the Punjab government will launch six major projects, including the Kisan Card Program, which will benefit 5 lakh farmers. On September 10, 2024, the CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, announced the distribution of Kisan Cards to registered farmers. The initial phase will see the distribution of 40000 Kisan cards. Starting October 15, farmers will be able to buy subsidized inputs for their crops using these cards.

At a recent meeting, Maryam Nawaz stated the launch of six major projects in Punjab, including Kisan Card distribution, a pilot project for agricultural goods, the Green Tractor Scheme, the Internship Programme for Agriculture graduates, and solarisation of tube wells.

A step-by-step guide to registering for a Punjab Kisan card at the office

One of the biggest challenges faced by farmers is understanding the Kisan Card registration process. To register by visiting:

  1. Visit the agriculture centre in your district.
  2. Discuss your concern with the agriculture office.
  3. Provide the required documents if requested.
  4. Once you submit your documents, you will be issued a Kisan Card.

How to Apply Online for a CM Kisan Card

If you want to apply online, follow these four-step instructions:

  1. Open your phone’s inbox.
  2. Write “pkc <space> CNIC number” in the message.
  3. Send it to 8070.
  4. Make sure your phone has enough balance to send the SMS.

Farmers Can Get Loans Up to Rs 150000 Through Kisan Cards

The Kisan Card has been introduced to assist farmers in increasing their agricultural production and getting better returns. Kisan Cardholders will be able to take out loans ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 150,000 per acre, according to the Punjab government.

Important features of the Kisan Card:

  • Farmers’ registration will be done online.
  • Farmers owning up to 12.5 acres of land are eligible.
  • A mobile SIM card linked to the farmer’s CNIC is required.
  • Loans are available to landowners whose land records are accessible in PLRA.
  • Farmers will be digitally verified through a system that links PLRA records with the Farmers Registration Database maintained by PITB.
  • After land registration and verification, the Bank of Punjab will issue the Chief Minister Kisan Card.
  • The first 500,000 farmers to register will be eligible for the loan scheme.
  • Farmers can borrow up to Rs 150,000 per season for 5 acres (at Rs 30,000 per acre).

CM Punjab Approves Agricultural Mall Project in Four Districts

Besides the Kisan Card scheme, the meeting approved the Agricultural Mall pilot project, which will be launched in four key districts – Okara, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Sargodha. Through this project, farmers will get access to agricultural inputs, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, along with loans and extension services.

The approval also extended to the Fresh Agriculture Graduate Internship Programme, which trains 1,000 agricultural graduates in Punjab. Additionally, the CM Green Tractors scheme will distribute 10,000 tractors to farmers throughout the year.
