The Punjab government has taken an important step by including the transgender community in its free solar scheme. For too long, transgender people have been socially isolated and denied their basic rights, leaving many people struggling to meet their needs.
Maryam Nawaz Initiative to distribute solar panels to transgender people
Maryam Nawaz has taken steps to address this issue by ensuring that the transgender community benefits from the Punjab government’s relief packages like everyone else. The initiative aims to provide solar panels to transgender people under the Free Solar Scheme, thereby giving them an opportunity to avoid activities that society often frowns upon. Transgender people can now participate in this program by following a simple registration process. BenazirKafaalat.pk
How the transgender community can get the solar panel system
To participate in the free solar program, transgender people must first register. The Punjab government has set up the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) where they can register and become eligible. Interested persons should approach the nearest PSER registration centre with their essential documents including a valid national identity card and mobile phone number.
At the registration centre, the representative will ask you a few questions which must be answered precisely. As part of the registration process, details of health status, personal situation, sources of income, and assets will be collected. If eligible, transgender persons will be notified via SMS on the provided mobile phone number which must be registered in their name.
