The government of Pakistan has introduced new changes to the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in which 5 types of women will no longer be eligible for Kafaalat payments. Let’s discuss these categories one by one:
- Widows Receiving Pensions
Widows who receive any form of government pension will no longer be eligible for the BISP Program. - Divorced Women Having Some Financial Assistance
Divorced women who receive financial help from family members or other sources are now excluded. - Women Above the PMT Threshold
Women whose financial circumstances place them above the program’s PMT score eligibility criteria will be disqualified. - Women with Regular Income
Those engaged in jobs or earning a regular income will not qualify as they do not meet the poverty-related requirements. - Women Receiving Money from Other Assistance Programs
Women already registered with other financial aid programs will no longer be eligible for BISP assistance.
Why Are These Changes Being Made?
BISP releases these new updates to make sure only the most vulnerable women receive the cash assistance. The reason behind the creation of the BISP Program was to support widowed and divorced women having no source of income. By changing the eligibility, now the Benazir Kafalat program entirely focuses on helping poor and deserving families across Pakistan.
Benazir Kafaalat New Payments for Eligible Women
The government of Pakistan notified an increase in Benazir Kafaalat payments by raising the amount to Rs 13,500 that will start in January 2025. This increment is part of an effort to address the economic challenges faced by needy people. Only women who meet the new eligibility conditions will receive these payments.
If you don’t confirm your BISP qualification, then we advise you to check the updated criteria to determine if you qualify for the program.
Introduction of the Benazir Income Support Program
Launched in 2008, BISP is continuously supporting impoverished families in Pakistan. The program requires women to meet specific eligibility criteria before registration. Women who qualify can get cash assistance to help improve their living conditions. If you believe you meet these requirements, then you can apply for registration to get this assistance from the program.
