Approval to Build 5000 New Classrooms in PSRP Schools
The meeting, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, involved a thorough review of issues related to the School Education Department. A report presented on the ongoing school meal program in three districts of South Punjab, alongside a decision to set up a formal learning center for children not currently enrolled in school.
38,000 Schoolchildren Joined Punjab Free Milk Program
Besides distributing over 13.2 million milk packs to 3,527 schools, the school meal program has significantly impacted registration, with over 38,000 new students joining since its launching. The program’s dashboard gives daily updates on milk pack distribution, and they are now regularly testing children for calcium as part of this initiative.
First Phase Admitted 121,000 Students in 5,675 Schools
The Public School Reorganization Program (PSRP) has brought successful results, with a 34% rise in enrollments in participating schools. The first phase of the program admitted over 121,000 new students in 5,675 schools, with a mentoring unit showing 60% of these admissions. Teacher attendance has surged by 164% following the program’s rollout.
Maryam Nawaz to Form Smart Classrooms in Remote Villages
Punjab government efforts to train teachers have also progressed, with seven sessions completed at divisional headquarters. The government will introduce smart class technology, including solar-powered smart boards, especially focused on children in remote villages, to further improve learning.
Data shows that suburban areas have the highest numbers of out-of-school children, but 95% of parents express a strong desire for their children to continue education.
