Starting next month, the Punjab government will provide free milk for Dera Ghazi Khan’s schoolchildren. This new scheme wants to improve the health and nutrition of children from kindergarten to grade 5. Over time, the initiative will expand from underdeveloped areas of the province to other regions.

Brigadier (retd) Babar Ala-ud-Din, Chairman, Chief Minister’s Directorate of Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection, and Monitoring (DEFIM), shared these details during a recent press conference.

The Scheme Focus on Nutrition of Schoolchildren

The objective of this initiative is to improve the nutrition of children, especially in areas with high malnutrition. By launching this scheme in Dera Ghazi Khan, the government is targeting areas where children face the most nutritional problems. The scheme’s goal is to provide children from kindergarten to fifth grade with the necessary nutrients to aid their physical and mental development. Babar Ala-ud-Din Did Monitoring and Evaluation of Government Projects

During his visit, Brigadier (retd) Babar Ala-ud-Din also reviewed the performance of various government departments, including health, police, education, and the Multan Development Authority (MDA). He expressed satisfaction with most of the departments, expressed concern over the cattle market, and mentioned his intention to seek an explanation from the Managing Director of Cattle Management Company, Lahore. He reassured the public that he will complete all ongoing projects, including the Vehari-Multan highway project, on schedule.

Govt to Build New Cardio Hospital in DG Khan

The Punjab government has also announced plans to build cardio hospitals in districts like Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan. This scheme is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare, especially for heart diseases, in these regions.

Brigadier (Retd) Addressed Infrastructure Issues in Multan

Brigadier (retd) Babar Ala-ud-Din also spoke about Multan’s outdated sewerage system and stressed the need for modernization. To address these issues, the government is planning to replace around 50 sewer pipes. He also identified over 100 illegal housing societies in the city and pledged to take immediate action against them. We have directed the concerned officials to initiate measures to tackle these illegal activities.
