Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a major project to improve school conditions and create over 70,000 jobs for the youth of Punjab. We expect the ‘School Reorganisation Programme’ initiative to save the province Rs 40 billion and create thousands of employment opportunities.

Upgrading Schools from Class 5 to Class 8

This program focuses on improving education by upgrading schools to offer up to class 8. The Punjab government will provide the curriculum and oversee its implementation to ensure a uniform standard of education.

Promoting Sports Activities in Public Schools

Many public schools often neglect sports, negatively impacting the physical and mental development of students. To address this problem, Maryam Nawaz promised to bring sports back to these schools, focusing on female students and arranging transportation to their educational institutions.

The Restoration of 603 Public Schools Across Punjab

Maryam Nawaz called for a comprehensive assessment of the resources and needs of schools across the province. It also ordered the restoration of 603 closed schools, as well as plans to regularize 14,000 educational assistants and secondary school teachers.

Creation of 70,000 Jobs for Youth in Punjab

One of the program’s strengths is its goal of creating 70,000 job opportunities for educated youth in the public sector. Following the success of the initiative in Lahore, several districts will establish preschools.

PSRP to Outsource Schools on 100 percent Performance Basis

The program involves subcontracting 5,800 schools with a strict focus on the performance of those involved in supervision and management. Given the large number of schools in the province and the challenge of effectively monitoring them all, this step is considered essential.

The Program Provides the Best Syllabus for Students

Maryam Nawaz stated that this program is more than just a financial initiative; it is about giving children access to a quality program. She noted that despite the challenges, public school students can perform as well as private school students if they have the right resources.

Dozens of Applications Received for the School Reorganisation Programme

Many schools, including some well-known ones from Punjab, have already applied to join the school reorganisation program. It will provide an improvements to facilities, cleaning, and school infrastructure. It will also implement safety measures such as pedestrian crossings and support staff to help children cross the road.

We closely monitor school transportation to prevent the use of overloaded or inadequate vehicles. Although conditions in Punjab are better than in many other provinces, some schools still face problems such as understaffing or overcrowding, which the program aims to address.
