This BISP program was launched by the Government of Pakistan in 2008 with an aim to solve the problems of the needy people. Considering the growing needs and deficits of the country, the relief efforts under this program have been expanded significantly.

The aim of this program is to help the elderly, people with disabilities, students, and underprivileged women to live an independent life. A new development initiative was launched to combat maternal and child malnutrition. Notably, BISP made history by including transgender women in its government relief package for the first time.

Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif stresses the importance of supporting eunuchs and says their welfare is a social responsibility. He assures that the government will fulfill this duty without hesitation.

BISP Scholarships for Children

The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program provides scholarships to students to help them meet their educational expenses. This initiative has enabled millions of children in Pakistan to access basic education. The Benazir Scholarship is an important branch of the BISP and benefits many poor students.

The scholarships are awarded quarterly with a larger amount being given to girls to ensure equal rights in the society. Students have to register and fulfill the eligibility requirements to receive these scholarships. Beneficiaries of the BISP Scholarship Program receive a support of Rs 10,500 every three months.

Benazir Nashonuma Program for Pregnant Women

To combat malnutrition among pregnant women and babies, the government of Pakistan has launched the Benazir Development Program. This scheme provides quarterly subsidies to pregnant women and children under two years of age.

Pregnant women are provided Rs 2,500 per quarter from the beginning of pregnancy until delivery. After delivery, Rs 3,000 is provided for the birth of a girl and Rs 2,500 for the birth of a boy. The subsidy is paid until the child turns two years old.

The first two years of a child’s life are crucial for his development. Therefore, the aim of this scheme is to eradicate malnutrition in children under two years of age and provide them with a good start in life and good nutrition.
