In the latest update for farmers of Punjab, CM Maryam Nawaz newly launched the Kisan Card scheme in Hafizabad, providing significant relief by directly facilitating farmers’ purchases and reducing their dependency on middlemen. The objective of this initiative is to simplify the process for farmers to obtain essential inputs at a reasonable cost.
Distribution of Kisan Cards Increased from 500,000 to 750,000
CM Nawaz announced an increase in the number of Kisan cards from 500,000 to 750,000, following the excellent response to applications. This increase will help more farmers get essential support. Additionally, we will give free distributions of laser levers and tractors to wheat farmers to directly assist efficient agricultural production.
Free Laser Levers and Tractors for Wheat Farmers
The launching ceremony announced a free laser leveler for wheat farmers with plots between 12.5 and 25 acres and a free tractor for those with lands above 25 acres. As many as 1,000 farmers will get tractors worth Rs 30–40 lakhs—a major step to help poor farmers with the high cost of equipment.
Agricultural Machinery Rental Via Units in All Tehsils
Another promising development is that farmers will soon get farm machinery rental in every tehsil, with the machinery provided to the government on a non-profit basis. These units reduce the financial burden of purchasing expensive equipment and provide simple access to essential machinery. The government has also announced plans to establish 3,000 new Kisan Card vendors to ease the process.
Benefits of Kisan Cards
During the event, a documentary shows the impact of CM Nawaz’s initiatives. The Kisan Card allows farmers to buy seeds, fertilizers, and insecticides at discounted prices with a credit of Rs 1.5 lakh, an important advantage for those who often face high input costs.
Promoting Agricultural Growth in Punjab Through Kisan Packages
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment to help farmers and promote Punjab’s agriculture sector. She mentioned that the government has completed projects worth Rs 400 billion for farmers in six months, an unprecedented feat for the region. She also stated that the government is lowering electricity costs and encouraging vegetable cultivation in urban areas, thereby boosting food availability and increasing farmers’ profits.
