A major new partnership has been formed between the Government of Pakistan and Huawei, the Chinese technology giant. Under this collaboration, Huawei will train 3 Lac Pakistanis and equip them with cutting-edge information and communications technology (ICT) skills.

Rana Mashood, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, visited Huawei’s office in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss the mass training initiative. This program aims to provide advanced ICT skills to 300,000 youth in Pakistan, marking an important milestone in integrating Huawei’s training programs into the country’s education system.

This partnership follows recent September 4-5 meetings and reflects Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to enhance technical education in Pakistan by leveraging Huawei’s global expertise and training resources.

Strengthening Technical Education in Pakistan with NAVTCC Partnership

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Huawei’s office in China laid the foundation for this initiative. This partnership shows Huawei’s commitment to modernizing Pakistan’s technical education sector. The partnership is expected to significantly improve the quality and accessibility of technical education across the country, thereby promoting growth and innovation. The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) will serve as the implementing partner of this initiative.

PM Shehbaz Sharif meets with Huawei Chairperson

During his visit to Huawei headquarters, the Prime Minister urged the company to become more involved in Pakistan’s safe city projects and explore opportunities in tax and e-governance. Huawei Chairperson Liang Hua welcomed him with a performance of national anthems and a tour of the exhibition center.

The Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on Huawei’s global activities, especially its projects in Pakistan, and expressed keen interest in expanding the company’s investments in the country. Discussions covered artificial intelligence, digital banking, e-governance, and communications.

Huawei’s role in Pakistan’s Safe City project

During his five-day visit to China, the Prime Minister praised Huawei for its innovative projects and encouraged the company to increase its investments in Pakistan. Following a bilateral meeting with President Liang Hua and his team, both sides acknowledged Huawei’s work on Safe Cities initiatives in Pakistan. Huawei was urged to invest more in these projects, especially in cities where CPEC projects are being developed.
