The Punjab government is continuously working to make life easier for low-income people in the province by providing various assistance schemes and reducing electricity bills. The latest move is with the Punjab Cabinet approving a relief in electricity bills for the residents of Punjab and Islamabad, which comes as a welcome relief for those struggling to pay high bills and limited salaries.
Relief in electricity bills for residents of Punjab and Islamabad
The decision to reduce electricity bills in Punjab and Islamabad was approved at a provincial cabinet meeting in Lahore headed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. More than 150,000 people in Islamabad will also get relief in electricity bills
Following the decision to reduce electricity rates by Rs 14 per unit in Punjab in August and September, the cabinet extended the same relief to residents of Islamabad. This measure is expected to benefit more than 150,000 consumers in the federal capital. Maryam Nawaz, who chaired the 14th provincial cabinet meeting, also announced plans to introduce a solar panel scheme soon.

Maryam Nawaz solar panel scheme is under process and will launch soon
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz mentioned at the cabinet meeting that steps would be taken to significantly reduce electricity rates by next summer, including the introduction of a solar panel scheme. She discussed that bills in August and September will be reduced by Rs 14 per unit for residential customers in Punjab and Islamabad who use between 200 and 500 units.
