Dr. Amjad Saqib, Chairman, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), addressed the issues faced by BISP beneficiaries, especially women, and discussed possible solutions. She acknowledged that women face several challenges related to BISP and stressed that steps are being taken to address these issues.

Bank accounts for BISP beneficiaries

Naveed Akbar, Director General, BISP, mentioned that discussions with the women beneficiaries revealed many problems. To reduce the burden of long queues, bank accounts are being opened for these women. This initiative aims to ensure that women can easily access their funds at any time and give them the assurance that their money is safe.

Akbar stressed the significant effort required to open these accounts and government institutions fully supported the initiative. The Government of Pakistan is committed to ensuring that women have direct access to all necessary facilities.

ATM Withdrawals

BISP has introduced ATM withdrawals to make it easier for beneficiaries to access funds. Women can now withdraw money without any deductions by visiting an HBL Bank ATM and verifying their fingerprints. This change is aimed at helping the 9 million beneficiaries of the scheme. Around 1,700 ATMs have been installed across the country, enabling women to withdraw their money with dignity, avoiding long queues, and ensuring that they receive the full amount.

BISP Toll-Free Number: 0800-26477

To better address the concerns of beneficiaries, BISP has launched the toll-free number 0800-26477. This service allows beneficiaries to report issues such as unauthorized deductions or misconduct by staff. When a complaint is filed, it is quickly investigated.

If the complaint is substantiated, it will result in the refund of the amount deducted and appropriate sanctions will be imposed on the responsible party. These measures aim to improve the experience of BISP beneficiaries and ensure that they receive the assistance they are entitled to with respect and ease.
