Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, recently approved the Kisan Card project, which will uplift farmers’ socio-economic status across the province. This initiative opens up concessional loans to both large and small farmers—benefiting around 500,000 in total.

The Kisan Card provides farmers with various subsidies to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and other essentials, aiming to promote agricultural production. As a result, we contribute significantly to the growth of Punjab’s agricultural sector.

How to Get Your Punjab Kisan Card

Maryam Nawaz mentioned that farmers using the Kisan Card can apply for loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh each season. The loans are interest-free, and they are easily available. Farmers are simply required to repay the loans in a single installment within six months, after which they can apply for another phase of monetary assistance. To verify applicants, NADRA will check that each farmer is debt-free with other institutions.

Application Process for the Kisan Card

The Kisan Card initiative will provide Rs 300 crore in agricultural loans each year, specifically for Punjab farmers with land up to 12.5 hectares. The Land Registry must register the land and link the applicant’s SIM card to their CNIC for eligibility.

Advantages of the Kissan Card

The Government of Punjab is introducing the Kissan Card to assist farmers in several significant ways:

  • Subsidies will make essential inputs affordable for farmers.
  • Increasing production requires the readily availability of resources that increase crop yields.
  • Income growth is the process of helping farmers increase their income through better productivity.
  • Reducing poverty: Improving the economic conditions of the farming community.

Distribution of Modern Agricultural Machinery

Farmers in Punjab, regardless of plot size, can advantage from the Kisan Card, especially as rising costs put added pressure on their livelihoods. In response, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced Rs 150 billion in stipends for small farmers, along with loans up to Rs 30,000 per hectare at reduced rates. She will also set up model farming centers in partnership with the private sector to provide additional support.

The government will distribute over 24,800 units of advanced agricultural machinery, costing Rs 7,000 crore, to improve farming capabilities.
