Naveed Akbar, Director General, BISP, recently shared important news during a morning TV show for beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He announced that the BISP 8171 initiative’s partner banks will establish two touch points in each union council. This means that beneficiaries will now be able to get their payments without having to travel long distances.
This update has many benefits, including allowing beneficiaries to receive their full monthly cash amount of Rs 13,500, saving them valuable time.
BISP Partners With Six Banks To Transfer Payments
The Benazir Income Support Program has now partnered with six more banks to simplify the payment process. This partnership ensures beneficiaries can conveniently receive their funds without fear of unauthorized deductions. The BISP also promised to take strict action against any bank found engaging in illegal activities against beneficiaries.
Naveed Akbar stated that the banks will work closely with BISP management to make the payment process as smooth as possible and ensure that women can receive their monthly payments without deductions or mistreatment.
Banks to Set Up Two Service Points in Each Union Council
DG Naveed Akbar has directed all partner banks to establish at least two service points in each union council across Pakistan. This step can create around 23,000 service points across the country.
This is particularly beneficial for the beneficiaries, as it will enable women to easily claim back their payments at the union council level. These service points will significantly reduce the need to travel long distances to campsites or tehsil offices. With service points close to their homes, women will save money on travel costs and have the option to return easily if they are unable to collect their money on the first attempt.
Benazir Kafalat Program Update: 13500 New Payment System
From January 2025, all registered women participating in the Benazir Kafaalat Programme will receive an updated payment of Rs 13,500 through the new banking system, said Rubina Khalid. Families previously disqualified now have another opportunity to qualify with the new National Socioeconomic Registry Survey.
A New Banking System for Upcoming Kafaalat Payments
According to BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid, the Benazir Income Support Programme introduces a new payment method for Kafalat beneficiaries. This system will help beneficiaries receive their payments directly into their bank accounts without any deductions. Beneficiaries can easily withdraw money from ATMs once the fingerprint biometric verification is complete.
Starting in January 2025, eligible families joining the 8171 Scheme will receive updated payments directly into their accounts. This step will eliminate the need to pay additional fees to third parties or POS agents.
