Why have eligible households not registered yet?

A common question is why registered households face delays in receiving monthly payments. The government allocates a limited quota for BISP to provide financial assistance. The program may require households to wait one to two years for inclusion.

The government of Pakistan has expanded the quota of the Benazir Kafaalat Programme to 1 crore households, and will include an additional 7 lakh families starting in January 2025, which is encouraging news.

Benazir Program Eligibility Requirement for Households—Latest Update

Following are some essential requirements that households must meet to be eligible for the Benazir Kafalat scheme:

  • Income Level: The household must be below a certain income limit, usually close to the poverty line.
  • CNIC Registration: All adults in the household must have a valid ID Card issued by NADRA.
  • Vulnerability: Factors such as unemployment, disability or female-headed households affect the determination of eligibility.
  • Dynamic Survey: The household must complete the BISP dynamic survey to assess its socio-economic status.
  • There is no overlap with other schemes: Households receiving assistance from similar schemes may be excluded.
  • Residence: Applicants must be Pakistani citizens with valid documents.
  • Required Documents: Proof of income, address and copies of CNIC are required.

Will the BISP Program exclude current beneficiaries?

The Director General Naveed Akbar Interview states that beneficiaries who do not complete their recertification at the Tehsil office by December 30, 2024, will no longer receive payments. However, those who meet the deadline will continue to receive payments in 2025.

What’s the recertification process for BISP-registered families?

Here is the simple 4-step recertification process for BISP-registered families:

  1. Visit the BISP Tehsil office.
  2. When you arrive, collect a token and go to the designated room.
  3. BISP staff will verify your information.
  4. You will be given a receipt that you must keep for future payments.
