The Punjab government has announced a major initiative to provide housing to the poor and homeless. The ‘Apna Ghar Apni Chat’ scheme, which Maryam Nawaz will launch on August 14, will provide eligible families with their own homes with easy payment plans and generous discounts.
Apna Ghar Apni Chat scheme will build 100,000 houses
CM Maryam Nawaz launched the new initiative in Lahore and highlighted a pilot model for these houses already underway. The project aims to distribute more than 3,000 homes in every district of Punjab. The plan envisages construction of 100,000 homes in six locations in the province in the initial phase. Easy 5-Year Installment Plan
Project participants can secure their housing with a 40% down payment and monthly installments of Rs 26,000. The provincial government will provide a subsidy of 60%, making each apartment priced at Rs 1.5 million (15 Lac) more affordable for families.

Release date for Apna Ghar Apni Chat
According to a statement by the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Apna Ghar Apni Chat Scheme is scheduled to be launched on August 14, 2024. Registration will be restricted to eligible families only and the initiative will be expanded to almost all districts of Punjab.
What’s the eligibility criteria set up for registration
To qualify for the Apna Ghar Apni Chat Scheme, candidates must meet the following requirements set by the Government of Punjab:
- You must have citizenship or residency status in Pakistan.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must provide proof of income for affordability assessment.
- You must comply with the program rules and regulations.
- Income must not exceed Rs 60,000.
- Families in need of welfare or low-income may be given priority.

The Process of Online Registration
Online registration for the Apna Ghar Apni Chat scheme will soon begin through a dedicated web portal. PITCB has announced plans to launch a new website that will enable candidates to complete their registration easily.
Cities included in the Apna Ghar Apni Chat Scheme
The scheme will initially benefit residents of the following districts of Punjab:
- Lahore
- Rawalpindi
- Faisalabad
- Sialkot
- Multan
- Sarghoda
3,000 housing units will be constructed in each district under this initiative.
