The Punjab government recently launched a new free milk program in South Punjab aimed at supporting primary school children. Under the initiative, 4 lac students in 3527 schools will receive free milk packets. The program was officially launched by Maryam Nawaz on September 5 at a government school in Dera Ghazi Khan.

At the inauguration, She stressed her commitment to improving the education system in Punjab and assured that all necessary resources would be provided to the children.

Maryam Nawaz introduced this new initiative to combat child malnutrition in South Punjab. The ‘School Nutrition Program’ aims to make sure that all children with nutritional problems get the nutrition they need. The program will begin with the distribution of milk packets to students from kindergarten to 5th grade in more than 3,500 schools in the region.

Punjab Govt Introduced School Nutrition Program

Maryam Nawaz stressed in her speech that the Programme will soon be expanded to cover the entire Punjab. The first step is already underway: four lac children will receive a 175 ml carton of milk daily. This effort is part of a broader plan to ensure that young students across the province have access to nutritious meals.

Currently, the Programme covers three districts in southern Punjab

  2. Rajanpur
  3. Muzaffargarh

What are the benefits of the free milk scheme for schools?
