Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a new initiative to support people with diabetes called the Punjab Insulin Program. This new scheme will provide insulin cards to children with diabetes and convert Basic Health Units (BHUs) into advanced ‘Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics’ in remote areas.
We expect to launch the first phase of an insulin project soon in various districts of Punjab. Let’s discuss the details of this scheme.
Punjab Govt Launched New Diabetes Initiative: CM Insulin Program
The Government of Punjab is pleased to announce the ‘Chief Minister Insulin’ initiative to provide access to insulin to children with type 1 diabetes. Children will receive insulin at home through this initiative. A government-approved company will issue special cards to make sure these children receive the necessary treatment in accordance with cold chain protocols and guidelines.
Upgrade of BHU’s into Maryam Health Clinics
Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting where she announced the CM Insulin program and made some significant decisions to enhance medical resources in Punjab’s rural areas.
To serve the communities better, the project includes upgrading the Basic Health Units (BHU) into ‘Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics’. This transformation will improve healthcare in rural areas.
In addition, the meeting approved the setting up of health laboratories in hospitals in Mianwali, Jhang, Layyah, Attock, and Jhelum. They also discussed creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of medical staff.
First Phase of the CM Insulin Programme
Lahore and three other districts will launch the ‘Chief Minister Insulin for All’ trial program. People with type 1 diabetes can apply through a dedicated helpline or mobile app.
Several officials, including the principal secretary, MPA Sania Ashiq, health ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir, information and culture minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, senior minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and other key figures, attended the meeting.
