Doubts arise over Free Flour Distribution
In addition to financial assistance, the government has set up a program to distribute free flour to needy families. Under this initiative, 588,000 families in Islamabad received bags of flour. However, this number is significantly higher than the 411,000 families counted in the city, according to census data. The discrepancy raised issues about the scheme’s implementation and whether all beneficiaries were eligible.
Details of the Flour Distribution
A more detailed analysis shows that 330,000 families registered with BISP received free flour. Furthermore, NADRA confirmed the eligibility of 258,000 families, who also benefited from the initiative. According to the Industries Ministry, the total distribution cost was Rs 1,360 million.
