Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), announced improvements in the payment process for beneficiaries. This includes the addition of six new banks to make payments easier and more transparent, with an aim to reduce complaints about payment agents.

Six more banks have joined Benazir Kafaalat‘s payment distribution network. These include Bank Al Falah, Bank of Punjab, Mobilink Microfinance, Telecom Microfinance Bank, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and HBL Microfinance. These partnerships will enable users to transfer money between their financial institutions, including mobile transactions through JazzCash or EasyPaisa. The changes were officially announced at a ceremony attended by CEO Naveed Akbar and directors of the newly joined banks.

In addition, BISP and the Ministry of Information Technology (MOIT) are working together to launch a digital payment system. This system will enable better monitoring and management of transactions, promote transparency and reduce the risk of fraud.

Reinstatement of Poverty Graduation Program

BISP has relaunched the Poverty Graduation Program, which provides vocational training to its clients with the goal of helping them become self-sufficient. This previously suspended initiative could benefit around nine million families in Pakistan by enabling workers to improve their skills and support their families. The training program offers a wide range of skills, allowing students to choose those that match their interests and abilities.
