Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem announced plans to donate 100 laptops to students. The announcement was made during a special ceremony at the Governor’s House on Independence Day. Arshad was the chief guest at the event, where he received a reward of Rs 5 million from the Sindh government along with other valuable gifts.

Who is Arshad Nadeem?

Born in Mian Channu village in Lodhran district of Punjab, Arshad Nadeem grew up in a humble family with his siblings. His international journey began at the South Asian Games in Guwahati, India, where he won a bronze medal with a throw of 38.33 metres.

Arshad gained recognition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where his throw of 84.62 metres earned him fifth place. Although India’s Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal, Arshad’s dedication and perseverance made him a standout competitor.

Despite the challenges, Arshad kept striving and eventually won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. By the 2024 Olympics, Arshad had achieved a career best of 90.18 metres. At the 2024 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, she won a silver medal with a throw of 87.82 metres, narrowly missing Chopra’s winning throw of 88.17 metres.

The Laptop Program for 100 Students

Following his Olympic success, Arshad Nadeem decided to give back to the community by donating laptops to students. Addressing a rally to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years, Arshad made the announcement.

The event included a performance by world-renowned singer Atif Aslam, who praised Arshad for his achievements. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori congratulated Arshad and expressed his gratitude during the Independence Day celebrations.

Arshad Nadeem’s decision to donate laptops is an important gesture for the future of Pakistani students. Speaking at the Paris conference, Arshad said the initiative was his way of encouraging students to work hard and strive for their future success.
