In a milestone for women empowerment in Punjab, the Chief Minister recently visited the Skill Training Centre for Women in Sheikhupura and distributed certificates and job offer letters to the first batch women who completed their training. She announced plans to set up more such training centers in all tehsils of Punjab with an objective of making it easier for women to get skills and economic independence and remove the need for long-distance travel.
A New CM Project for Women Empowerment in Punjab
At a ceremony at Garments City in Sheikhupura, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif celebrated the achievements of the first batch of women trained in sewing and clothing-making under her project. During the event, she emphasized the significance of these skills in empowering women to become independent, and she presented certificates and scholarships to the Wagah women as a tangible step towards self-employment.
Speaking at the event, she said, “The objective of these skills is to make you self-reliant and allow you to support others rather than relying on anyone.”
Expanding Opportunities Through New Garment Training Centers
She assured the women that new clothing training centers would soon be established in every Tehsil, enabling women to receive training without the need to travel long distances. This first batch shows an important milestone in Punjab’s efforts to provide women with skills for financial independence and be a role model for others in the province.
Certificates Distribution to Women on Training Completion
The Chief Minister congratulated the passout trainees and praised them for their journey of growth and independence. “Congratulations on this journey,” she said, “once you learn these skills, no one will see you as weak.” In addition, she appreciated their determination and encouraged them to be proud of their achievements, saying, “Each of you is a source of pride and honor for your family.” This skill allows you to live with confidence and dignity.
