Reports confirm that Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore has stopped distributing free medicines to patients with health cards. The hospital’s health card offices have been closed due to administrative issues following a notification from the State Life Insurance Corporation.

Since the Health Card office is closed, patients depending on the centre for free treatment will no longer receive medicines and services under the Punjab Health Card. New patients will no longer have access to the Sehat Card at this hospital.

Medicines Will No Longer Be Free for Patients

A representative of the State Life Insurance Corporation mentioned that due to the hospital’s lack of support, patients are now forced to buy their medicines and medical supplies from private pharmacies. The initial aim of the Health Card Program was to provide free medical care but continued patient billing led to the closure of Health Card services at Sheikh Zayed Hospital.

Punjab Health Company Ends Collaboration with Federal Hospital

Following this, Punjab Health Company announced that it would no longer cooperate with the Federal Hospital, criticizing the additional costs for health card holders.

So far, no confirmed information indicates a comprehensive suspension of Health Card services. The Health Card remains valid throughout Punjab, except for Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
