On November 15, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz shared a heartwarming opportunity for young agricultural graduates. With a focus on improving the aquaculture potential of the region, she launched a new Aquatic Shrimp Farming Internship Program for the pass-outs of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Zoology.
Graduates To Get Six-month Internship At A Shrimp Farm
The selected trainees will do a 6-month internship program at the Fisheries Department’s shrimp farm in Muzaffargarh. The objective of this initiative is to equip participants with practical skills that will enable them to excel in shrimp farming while meeting the growing global demand for aquaculture products. New graduates will take a lot of advantage from this practical training and gain some experience and preparation in the field.
Increasing the Shrimp on 100,000 Acres of Southern Punjab
Maryam Nawaz stated the scope of shrimp farming on 100,000 hectares of unused land in southern Punjab by mentioning how we can economically benefit from it. This project has the potential to generate billions of dollars in revenue while transforming barren land into productive, profitable resources.
Rs 50,000 Monthly Stipend for Aquaculture Interns
To further assist the internees during their training, the Government of Punjab will also give the monthly stipend of Rs 50,000. This cash assistance will enable participants to focus on strengthening their skills while managing their personal expenses.
10,000 to 20,000 Internship Opportunities for Youth
The Aqua Tiger Prawn Farming initiative will also create between 10,000 and 20,000 employment opportunities for young people. The program supports aquaculturists and investors in the form of leased land, incentives, and essential equipment, thereby promoting self-employment and financial independence among young people.
How to Apply Online Through Web Portal
Eligible candidates with a degree in aquaculture, fisheries, or zoology can apply through the official online portal of the agricultural department. More details on the eligibility requirements and online application process will be shared soon.
