Here is the latest update for all Punjab residents: During the 16th Cabinet meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz made several important announcements. She gave the green light to several initiatives aimed at improving the province and providing relief to its citizens.

One of the important decisions was the approval of the project to create a uniform housing system, as well as the recruitment of 7,354 College Teaching Interns (CTI). Several departments have also received approvals for major projects, paving the way for further development in Punjab.

One of the topics discussed at the 16th Cabinet meeting was approval for the hiring of 7,354 CTIs across Punjab. This move will not only address the shortage of teachers in universities but will also create more job opportunities in the education sector.

The government colleges announced the establishment of a ‘central portal’ to streamline the recruitment process for these aspiring teachers. Additionally, the Punjab Infrastructure Development Act, 2015 underwent an amendment. Moreover, the chief minister stopped the increase in accommodation charges for working women and praised the Irrigation Department and Minister Kazim Pirzada for their efforts to minimize flood casualties.

 

Maryam Nawaz Suggested Uniform Housing Scheme

During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz advocated for a uniform housing policy across Punjab. While considering an increase in accommodation charges for working women, the cabinet rejected the proposal. The CM then asked the Board of Revenue to formulate a five-year housing policy for the province.

In appreciation of the efforts of police officers, a special allowance for police officials posted in Katcha and Rahim Yar Khan regions was approved.

Approval of Major Development Projects in the 16th Cabinet Meeting

The 16th provincial cabinet meeting approved several development projects under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz. The focus was on helping the public, and Punjab Police received special recognition for their exceptional services.

The Cabinet also approved a Writers Welfare Endowment Fund of Rs 50 crore under the Ministry of Information and Culture. In parallel, a monthly grant scheme for persons with disabilities was sought. Under the Punjab Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, the government approved the establishment of a special court to look after the needs of people with disabilities.

The Punjab Cabinet Praised the MDCAT Exam’s Conduct

The Cabinet expressed appreciation for Punjab’s successful MDCAT exam conduct, but expressed concerns about the exam’s handling in other provinces.

Approvals for Land Transfers, Policy Changes and Hospital Improvements

The Cabinet approved the transfer of land-related functions to the Sub-Registrar. The Cabinet also decided to update the land allocation policy for government housing projects and allocate funds for improving tertiary care hospitals to ensure better medical care.

MoU with UNOPS

The meeting also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Punjab and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). In addition, Lahore Knowledge Park (Nawaz Sharif Limited City) on Bedian Road falls under the jurisdiction of the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority.

Other approvals included the appointment of a Vice Chairman of WASA Gujranwala and a new member of the Gujranwala Development Authority.
