A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently visited the Benazir Income Support Program’s (BISP) One-Window Center in Islamabad. The objective of the visit was to check the center’s operations and learn more about BISP initiatives. DG Naveed Akbar joined the team to provide an overview of the program’s efforts to improve payment processes and increase transparency in registration and cash transfers.
ADB Officials Visit BISP Center in Islamabad
Donald Bobiash led the delegation, which included senior officials such as Shigeo Shimizu, Supak Chaiyawan, Noor Ahmed, Shantanu Mitra, and Llewellyn Roberts. They visited the BISP One Window Center in G-7, Islamabad, to understand how it assists the most vulnerable populations in the country.

During the visit, Director General Naveed Akbar provided a comprehensive update on BISP’s continuous efforts to help low-income families. He mentioned key programs such as Benazir Kafaalat, Taleemi Wazaif, Benazir Nashonuma, and the new BISP Skill Training Initiative that aims to provide financial and educational support.
BISP New Payment System and NSER Database
We briefed the delegation on recent updates to BISP’s payment methods and its National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) database. We regularly update this system to reflect changes in the financial situation of millions of households. Akbar also spoke about the mobile van registration system that helps rural people participate in the program and complete the required surveys while sitting at home.
ADB Delegation Gave Positive Feedback to BISP for Empowering Women
The ADB delegation expressed admiration for BISP’s focus on empowering female beneficiaries. They praised the efficiency of the One Window Center, which offers a wide range of support services in one place, including financial assistance, education, and healthcare. The delegation mentioned how these efforts facilitate women receiving essential services.
