As a major relief initiative for the poor farmers of Pakistan, the Government of Sindh introduced the Benazir Hari Card. Announced by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, this scheme will provide direct financial assistance to eligible farmers and receive transparent help from the government. Deserving farmers can apply for the Benazir Hari Card at their district Tehsil centres.
Sindh Govt Launched a Benazir Hari Card for Farmers
In a ceremony at the Chief Minister House in Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari officially launched the Benazir Hari Card initiative. Farmers from Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Ghotki, and Mirpur Khas tuned in via video conference to listen to him.
In his speech, Bilawal mentioned the challenges faced by farmers due to climate change and natural disasters and pointed out that this card will provide them timely financial support to help them tide over these difficult times.
Over 1.4 Million Farmers Registered for the Hari Card Initiative
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said 1.4 million small farmers have already registered for the scheme, 70 percent of whom own between one and twelve and a half hectares of land. The government will give priority to card holders when distributing wheat, fertilizer, and seeds of the highest quality.
PPP Chairman Praised the BISP and Labor Card Program
Bilawal Bhutto praised the success of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and the Labor Card Program, both launched under the PPP government. He restated the commitment to make these projects transparent and mentioned that the Benazir Hari Card will be based on the same principles to provide clear and proper assistance to farmers.
Distribution of Benazir Hari Cards
According to Bilawal, the crops farmers grow drive the nation’s economy. He also referred to the Benazir Income Support Program as a global model in the fight against poverty.
Key figures, including District Council Chairman Ali Akbar Jamali, PPP District President Muhammad Salim Zardari, and Commissioner of Division Syed Muhammad Sajjad Hyder, later distributed Benazir Hari Cards to the farmers during a ceremony at Shaheed Benazirabad.
