Balochistan’s Chief Minister has launched several new initiatives to assist the province’s students. One of the significant announcements is to provide free education to the top 10 students, enabling them to pursue their studies without financial difficulties. The Government Girls Post Graduate College in Quetta will name a department in honor of a late professor who tragically lost her life in a terrorist attack in 2010.
The top 10 Balochistan students to receive a 16-year education scholarship
At a recent graduation ceremony, the Chief Minister announced the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Programme. This new initiative, the first of its kind in Balochistan, will fund 16 years of free education for the top 10 students from each district who score highest in the Balochistan Board matriculation examinations.
In Balochistan, Focus on Women’s Education
The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of women’s education, asserting that a society cannot advance if its women remain behind. He added that Islamic teachings also stress the need for gender equality in education. Currently, Balochistan is witnessing progress in this field with five women as deputy commissioners and one woman as assistant commissioner.
New Initiative to Distribute 500 Laptops
Mr. Sarfraz Bugti also announced a program to distribute 500 laptops to teachers and students in colleges and universities in the province to enhance the educational experience and support digital learning.

A Tribute To Professor Nazima Talib’s Legacy
On April 27, 2010, masked gunmen shot Professor Nazima Talib dead near Sariab Road in Quetta, prompting the naming of a section of the Government Girls Post Graduate College after her. The banned Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the professor’s death. During the convocation, the chief minister paid tribute to the professor and other martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and education in Balochistan.
