The Punjab government has taken a major step to support laborers and women who work long hours outside the home. To provide them with financial relief, the government announced the provision of free flats to help them settle comfortably in Punjab while earning money for their families.

A high-level meeting was held on July 10, 2024, where several decisions were taken to improve the welfare of laborers. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz discussed initiatives related to healthcare, scholarships for workers, and development of labour colonies while evaluating the recent performance of the Labour Department.
As part of the new measures, Maryam Nawaz announced that 1,224 free flats will be provided to the laborers in Taxila and Sundar labour camps.

CM announces special relief for women factory workers
The women workers, who are essential to the economy, have not been neglected. Maryam Nawaz announced major relief measures for them to ensure a conducive and safe working environment. In Sheikhupura, 704 women workers will benefit from free accommodation as part of this effort.
The Prime Minister also issued orders to enforce labour reforms, workplace safety, and a minimum wage of Rs 37,000 to ensure the protection and welfare of all workers.
