According to the latest update of the 8171 Ehsaas program, the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has achieved major milestones for its April-June disbursements. More than 8.4 million beneficiaries received payments from a total budget of Rs 82 billion for Benazir Kafaalat and Taleemi Wazaif.
90% of beneficiaries received their 10500 payment
The BISP began its April-June payments in late April with a single-stage disbursement covering half of Pakistan’s registered districts. The remaining districts will be covered in the ongoing phases 2 and 3. About 90% of BISP beneficiaries received their payments after receiving a message from 8171 and thousands of them are still waiting for their money.
Rs 88 billion disbursed to 8.4 million beneficiaries
Latest data from the Benazir Kafalat scheme shows that as of July 31, 2024, more than 8.4 million beneficiaries had received their payment of 10,500 BISP in the first three phases, representing almost 90% of the April-June distribution. The distribution of payments is expected to continue until August until all beneficiaries receive their payments through the BISP warehouses.

No payment fees from April to June
Many recipients are unaware that payments they receive from retail stores or camp sites are free. Some merchants or point-of-sale agents take advantage of this lack of knowledge by deducting part of the money. BISP stresses that there is no fee for paying 10,500 BISP and that staff are there to assist beneficiaries without taking money from them.
BISP team new instructions for beneficiaries
The Government of Pakistan has provided these payments specifically for women. To ensure they receive the full amount, recipients should be cautious when collecting their payments in the camps. Women are often subjected to injustice, which is a serious problem. Recipients are advised to check, count and make a receipt for their money immediately upon receipt.
