The Government of Punjab has launched the Chief Minister’s Model Cart Bazaar Scheme, a major initiative for the poor and unemployed people. This project will create employment opportunities and help them to start small businesses.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Punjab’s 1st ever Model Cart Bazaar in Lahore, marking a major milestone in economic relief efforts. This initiative not only creates jobs but also helps the local economy by providing fresh and organic things at affordable prices. Moreover, these organized shop facilities will also reduce the jammed traffic caused by unregulated street stall holders.

Lahore Model Cart Bazaar Project: 19 Locations Across the City

Lahore established the Punjab’s first model cart bazaar, marking a groundbreaking step for Pakistan. Street Stall Holders, who play an important role in the local economy but often lack legal, permanent premises, now have proper shops for their businesses.

The government has allocated 19 spots in Lahore for these cart models, with a target of designing 12,000 carts. This will enable many struggling families to earn a stable income in a legal and organized environment.

The selected locations for cart models include:

  • Begumpura GT Road.
  • Service Road Shahdara. 
  • Shadman.
  • Thokar Raiwind Road.
  • Peco Road.
  • Ashfaq Chowk.
  • Lal Pul.
  • Pir Makki.
  • Outfall Road.
  • Kharak Nala on Multan Road.
  • Bhati Chowk Raiwind.
  • Madar-e-Millat Road Green Town.
  • Kacha Jail Road
  • Gajumata Ferozepur Road.
  • Makkah Colony.
  • Harbanspura.
  • GT Road Cooperative Store.
  • Daroghawala Chowk.
  • Pepsi Road.
  • LOS Road (from Morriya Pul to Delhi Gate)

Model Carts First Deployed At LOS Road

As part of a first trial, carts were set up along LOS Road to provide clean and organized spaces to vendors. Each cart has a unique design and a barcode for future identification. The success of this trial led to expansion to areas like Shadman and other shortlisted locations.

Customer’s Feedback About Model Cart Initiative

The vendors expressed their immense satisfaction and mentioned how the program has brought about positive changes in their lives. They now have a stable and dignified means of feeding their family. Customers, on the other hand, appreciate the availability of fresh, quality fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices in a clean and organized environment.
